Look at these darlings. Here we are at Roy High School for a dance competition. Check this out, Ady's dance team took first place and Lexxy's team took first place and then Lexxy's team took first place over all the other teams. Oh Yeah! I do have to say that they did have the cutest costumes and had better dances (not being partial at all!) Anyway, I'm proud of them and their teacher - they did awesome!

Lexxy's kindergarten earned a "crazy" hair day - this is the final product. We had a couple different do's going on. The first one had her bangs pulled into side pony tails and she didn't appreciate the "pokies", so then we dropped her bangs and put the ponies into buns. She still looks darling even with crazy hair.

My girls crack me up. I don't know where they get their personality, because we all know that I don't have one. Here are some funny comments straight from the mouths of my girls.

Everyday I do some kind of pre-school something with Ady. The other day we were laying on the floor doing a U.S. puzzle, I asked Ady if she knew where she lived. She thought for a couple of seconds and then said... "South America". I about died!

Okay, so I will confess I have a problem with hair. I don't like it on my floor, on my toilet, swimming pool floors, in my food, you get the idea... Well, a couple of weeks ago, we went swimming for FHE and because it's the middle of winter, I forgot our flip flops. While walking across the swimming pool locker room floor, I am GROSSING out in my head, I turn around to help Ady walk across the floor and she has the most disgusted look on her face - she said while holding her gags back, "mom, there's hair all over the floor". My kinda girl!

How do you discipline? Spanking doesn't work, they just laugh, cause they just think they're love taps... for quite a while I've been using Vinegar, yes Vinegar. It's nasty and it does a pretty dang good job. I even gave some to their dad one day (he needs the WHOLE bottle!) One day, Ady had done something and Lexxy felt like she needed to be disciplined, she came to the kitchen and said, "Ady needs vinegar, I'll get it, what does it look like?" Ady came out and said, "it's in a clear bottle and has a tomato on it"... I've since backed off on the vinegar, poor girl knows what the bottle looks like.

The other day Lexxy started talking to me after taking a bite of food and let out the weirdest noise... while busting a gutt, she said "I just burped like a frog". That girl.

Last week, we had a day or 2 of beautiful weather. I took advantage of it and spent the days outside cleaning up the yard. Lexxy was helping rake up the beautiful rutts the lovely moles make under the snow (grrr!), she came running to me, screaming & doing a dance, "I think a spider crawled in my underpants!" Right then and there, she wanted to drop her pants and have me check. Are you kidding me?

I warned my girls before we went that I wasn't buying anything except snacks. Good thing I have such angels. (hee hee!) Actually, we did have a good time and the girls LOVED the show.

This little six year old is losing teef all over the place! And guess what? Her mom hasn't pulled one of those dang things! What is wrong with me? There are a lot of things in my life that I can handle and do, but dang, pulling teef is not one of them! Good thing we have a friend who's a dentist in our ward, and is okay with pulling them on the Sabbath.

I can't deny it, I have a great family! They are always so giving and willing to help out. We have this one sister, I'll keep her name private, but man, her and her family are top-notch!

They would do ANYthing for ANY of my family, but I think that they've kinda adopted me and my girls for right now. Cause they can... So, they brought us to Washington for five days and took such good care of us. They even bought baby chicks while we were there... my girls thought they were in heaven! We ate good food, watched a basketball game, saw a little track running and went skiing in freezing cold weather, but oh so beautiful!

After several requests to update my blog, here it goes! Our life is crazy, but fun. In February we celebrated Ady's birthday a few times... first, with some good friends, then my sister came into town with her family, so we had a family party, went skiing and ate food (my fav!), then with Muppy & Pops, and lastly with her dad at Fat Cats (my life is full of sacrifices for my girls!)

The other day, Ady and I ran to Ogden to run some errands, on our drive down the canyon, I asked her what kind of a cake she wanted for her birthday coming up. She proceeded to explain this American Girl cake to me, however, I wasn't getting it (or didn't want to!) So I told her when we got home to show me it, sure enough she brought this out to me (WHAT!) I love to cook and bake, however, I really don't pay to much attention to making it "look pretty", I thought I'd better try it out. We're headed to some friends house tomorrow for Super Bowl and I decided to start her week of birthday celebrating with them, so today I busted out the cake decorating materials and after a couple hours of concentration and back pains...

here's the end result. Who cares anyway what it looks like, right? It just matters how it tastes.? The whole time Ady was trying to convince me what I a good job I was doing. She's my sugar-pie.

Ski Day

I didn't dare take my camera up on the slopes, so you get one of us in the ski rental store. Lex and I finally got to go skiing last week and HAD A BLAST! I didn't get to see Lexxy ski the first time she learned how and I was totally amazed at how talented she is (totally a Nielson gene!). I was nervous cause I hadn't been skiing for over 10 years and thought for sure that I was going to have to help her re-learn. No way! She was cruising down those slopes with a gigantic grin on her face. So fun!

When you live in a house full of girls and an occasional Pops, you have to get your hair done at 'da salon, this was salon night and the girls wanted to take a picture of "my do"... you can see Pops in the background, it wasn't his lucky night.

I don't have pictures for the other 2 celebrations, but we went to dinner with her dad at her favorite restaurant Texas Roadhouse and then to dinner the following weekend with Muppy and Pops - so all in all, I would say it was a pretty darn good week of birthday celebrations (she's spoiled!)

I always load the pictures in the wrong order... this is lunch from our second birthday celebration. Both Lexxy and Ady have girl-cousins close to their age and they live in the same state as us. So Lexxy requested Build-a-Bear workshop with her cousins. Thankfully my sister (with her husbands approval :) ) agreed to meet us at Gateway. We had fun, a little crazy with 6 kids, but we accomplished and even got some lunch!

We celebrated Lexxy's birthday the whole week. I told her we wouldn't be doing a "friends" birthday party this year, so we ended up celebrating 4 TIMES! Whew! I think I'd rather do a party. This is the first celebration, we had some friends over Sunday night for Lexxy's favorite dinner (Teriyaki chicken salad) So delish! I was brave and made a 4 layer chocolate cake with stabilized whip cream ( I had no idea what that was!). It was AMazing!

Look at my big girl growing up before my eyes. I can't stand it! I tell her to stop growing and she just giggles at me...

Watch out for stupid, stinkin garbage cans in the middle of the road! And those are not the words I used when I hit one either! In the little town of Huntsville that I reside, the snow banks are tall, the roads are 3 inches thick of ice and they take the plow down the road one time, yes one time. I looked down for a split second and BAM! Ady said, "what was that mom?" I couldn't even tell her cause I was so, well you know...

So, my baby's a skiier! Well, she's really not my baby anymore, she'll be 6 next week... but I can't believe it! One day on the slopes with her uncle and she's a pro, she even wanted to miss school the next week to hit the slopes with her mommy. I couldn't allow that, but did promise her a date. She healed really quickly from her tonsillectomy, so when my sister came to town, I thought it would be good for her to learn. So glad - thanks Cahoonies!

Christmas was nice! Nothing in particular, and actually really quiet. My mom and dad flew to Indiana early Christmas morning and no other siblings in sight. The girls dad came VERY early to watch the girls open their presents, we had breakfast and hung out for the morning. We all took a nap as Lexxy still wasn't up-to-par with her tonsillectomy and in the afternoon we hung out at our Bishop's house. They are great friends! Lots of yummy food and lots of Wii playing.

What kind of a mom would have her daughters tonsils out 4 days before Christmas? Me. I know it sounds mean, but it was necessary even though it just about killed me. Lexxy has had strep throat 6 times this year, that's every other month! Enough said. About 3 weeks ago when Lexxy had her last bout of strep throat, our pediatrician suggested we see our ENT specialist, so back to the specialist we went. He asked Lexxy to open her mouth so he could look at her tonsils, he didn't even need a tongue depressor to see how big they were. We were scheduled for sugery within 5 minutes of our appointment. I had total confidence in our specialist from previous allergy appointments, plus he's a Davis Dart - how could you go wrong?! All went well, I will not deny, it's stinkin' hard and will continue for a few more days, but I'm good for it (I think).

We got A LOT of snow over the weekend and the girls found the perfect sledding place, our back deck! It was hilarious to watch, especially when they would come to an abrupt stop and go flying. I know I'm a mean mom, it's just something about your childrens faces in the snow...??

Christmas Around the World at BYU

This is our 2nd year going to Christmas Around the World at BYU. This year was the first for Ady and after about a half an hour, she was ready to scram. However, she stuck it out and enjoyed the performance (good thing I had suckers in my purse). The students are so talented. I love it! I think we can call this a tradition, as long as the Cahoonie's stick around.

What is this you ask? It's a pile of Ady's hair! We had friends over Friday night and we got chatting too much, I guess. I must of made Ady feel like I wasn't paying enough attention to her or something because she took scissors to her hair and cut a lot! I freaked out (just a little!) - thank goodness for Angie, she keeps me pretty grounded.

Wednesday was pajama day at our home. Lexxy woke up with strep throat, so we stayed in our jammies all day. The girls had been wanting to decorate a gingerbread house, so I broke out all the decor and here they are enjoying every minute. Lexxy even shared with Ady this year. What a nice sister!

I'm a sucker...

for kittens that is. What's wrong with me?! I love kittens, but when they get bigger they could run away and no tears here. We already have 2 cats. I picked Lexxy up from a friend's home the other day and they came running out with a cute little kitten, Lexxy begged & begged all day, then got Ady going on it. Ahhhhh! Here's our new little member. Don't worry he'll end up outside soon, just like the other 2.

Okay, so I don't promote this and it will probably be our only one (maybe!), but here's Lexxy in a "fashion show". Here's how it came about: there's a cute clothing boutique that opened here in Eden, one day we were in "looking" around and the owner came up to me and told me Lexxy HAD to be in her fashion show. Why thank you I said.. and here we are. Lexxy had a blast. She modeled 3 outfits. One was this snow outfit, the cute zebra outfit below and then a darling angel outfit - I didn't get any pictures of the angel, and that was my most favorite, dang!

We had such a fun time with our friends - the evening started out with a yummy dinner in a pumpkin and hot wassail. Watch out BMX racers! These girls are going to be pros (just kidding mom!) We went to a BMX race in Farmington, and the girls got to race~ it was absolutely darling! They both had so much fun and wanted to do it again. I have to admit it was fun, but it was a little crazy and intimidating and thought that the girls wouldn't go for it, but they did awesome! The only thing I regret is I didn't grab my camera when we went to race, so I just have before/after pictures. They even got trophies ~ go girls!

We had a little Halloween Party for the girls in Lexxy's class (12 of them!) - Thanks to my friend Angie (Karra you're still my friend too!) who stayed and helped me, it got a little crazy! General Conference weekend was the best! Friday evening we went to Cornbelly's at Thanksgiving Point with my sister Emily & her family. Then we headed to Grand America (what!) to stay the night with Muppy, Pops, my sister Lezli and her family. We were totally spoiled and felt like Princesses! Then Saturday morning I went with my mom, dad & sister to General Conference while the girls stayed at the hotel with Lezli, Rob, Matthew & Joshua. What a wonderful, memorable weekend - thanks family!

We live about 10 minutes away from Snowbasin Ski Resort and we've been there once. Hello! It's absolutely beautiful. I decided this summer that we were going on a gondola ride and ski lessons this winter. Look at how beautiful it is. Love it! We ate dinner at the top and there was not a bad view in the whole lodge. By the way, when we got to the top of the mountain, it was 40 degrees! What? Good thing I brought jackets cause it was COLD!

Okay, so I live in the mountains where creatures live and I'm a single mom and normally dad's usually are the ones to initiate these kind of activities - right? But we tried and that's all I can say! It lasted about an hour & a half and then into the nice warm house where there are NO creatures to worry about! We had fun while we were at it.

I'll try to describe each of these pictures. This is over the 4th of July. We LOVE the 4th in Huntsville. I live 2 minutes away from Pineview Lake and we enjoy lots of fun in the sun & sand. I have family come in from Indiana & Washington to enjoy it. They have a small (big!) town parade and fun in the park, then a GRAND fireworks show where we can watch it from our own backyard.

Ahhhh... I LOVE SUMMER!
Memorial Day we flew to Washington to play with our cousins there and their amazing NEW pool. We could have stayed there forever (sounds good to me!) Isn't it beautiful?! Those Finch's ALWAYS take such good care of us. We found a little froggie in the pool box, thank goodness Grandpops was there to help investigate! Lexxy learned how to jump off the diving board - new accomplishment for her that made her grin from ear to ear. Love her!

St. George in April - oh yeah baby...
My sister-in-law, niece and nephew participated in a mini triathlon.

Well when you live in a home of 3 girls, you are always a princess - but this day was a special one. Lexxy's dance teacher is Miss Utah and had to do a fundraiser. This is what she did for these sweet girls.

*Enjoyed a lovely lunch

How to celebrate your 36th birthday:

1. morning chores & craziness with their dad!

2. afternoon naps (no, not for me!)

3. it's finally time to get ready for Lexxy's dance competition & an early dinner with muppy & pops

4. when you start doing her hair she starts gettin the chills and complaining that her body aches

5. stop doing her hair so she can lay down

6. get some medicine in her so that you can still possibly get to dinner

7. not a chance!

The evening ends up with Lexxy in bed with strep throat and mommy feeling sorry for herself for about 1 second.

Yep, that's what happened this year - but isn't that what being a mommy's all about!

So Sunday, I made me a birthday cake and shared just a little with my girls... ha ha

The perfect ending to a perfect day!
What? Is there such a thing as a perfect day.
Okay, so today I got home from school at 10:30, I fed the girls some lunch and got Ady down for a nap by 11:15 because I had to go visiting teaching at 1:30 and so she needed to nap early. We got home around 3:45, just in time to get dinner started so we could eat at a decent time. Then T came for a visit around 5 - the girls ate dinner and it was time to say good-bye so we could start getting ready for bed. Not 2 minutes after T walked out the door, Ady came running to me telling me she needed to go potty - we ran but didn't make it. She pooped in her panties, so we get to the bathroom and she's gagging, I help her to calm down a little, pull her panties off, get poop all over my hands, up her side and on her socks. I start running the bath, get her wiped off and get her in the bath. Decide that I'll clean the bathroom while she's in the bath, start cleaning and look over and Ady's backed up to a side of the bath, saying I tooted! What? There's brown stuff floating in the bathtub! I pull her out of the bathtub and start the shower. Throw her in the shower and pull the plug on the tub. I have poop up to my elbows! Are you kidding me? Why didn't you do this when your dad was here? He could use some poop smeared on him. So, while she's showering I'm scrubbing poop out of the bathtub.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ADYLEEN JOY! #2

We were going to go on a horse drawn sleigh ride

and the place called at the last minute and cancelled

because of too much snow. Of course!

Valentine's Day

We had a great V-day. We woke up to a treat from Cupid and then had heart shaped pancakes and then the girls had a visit from the daddy.

So, what do you do when your daughter asks you what we're giving her daddy for Valentine's Day? Well, you hurry and conjure up something - and this is what we came up with. I'm so proud of Lexxy, she dipped the strawberries all by herself and then I added the white chocolate. Aren't I a nice ex-wife?

Happy Birthday Lex! #5

So Lexxy wanted a Jungle birthday party - we
hunted for snakes & frogs, had the monkey climb the vine,
made animal puppets, opened presents (of course) and ate
Jungle cupcakes - fun was had by all!

Christmas fun! This year was Christmas at my mom & dad's home. More cousins, lots of presents and too much fun. I'm really grateful for such a wonderful family!

We got to spend Halloween with lots of cousins and lots of fun trick or treating. This doggy costume is adorable, my grandma's sister made it and gave it to us when Lexxy was little, pulled it out of the closet and woila Ady's a doggy!

This summer has been so fun and busy... I can't believe it's almost over. Lexxy will start a new preschool at the end of this month and Ady won't know what to do with herself, she'll miss her sister so much. And I'm going to go way out of my comfort zone and go to school, yes school. I'm going to start at Weber State, I'll only be taking one class, but this is a BIG thing. I'll keep you posted.
